Dear Life, Why So Many lemons?
They say, “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” As if it’s that simple. As if every bitter moment can be transformed with just a little it of sugar. Life, is it that easy?
Now, both you and I know, that lemons are sour, sharp, and unrelenting. Plans fall through. Doors close. Expectations fall short. People piss you off. The outcome? Nothing but handfuls of disappointment.
So tell me, Life—why do you keep sending me lemons?
Are they tests? Lessons in disguise? Proof that I am stronger than I think? Or do they exist simply because struggle is simply just part of the living?
Now that I think about, maybe you’re not the enemy. Maybe you are the ingredient I need to create something better. Maybe you are not here to ruin me, but to shape me. To force me to get creative. To live outside the box I allowed the world to keep me it. And to teach me that even the sourest moments have the potential to turn into something meaningful.
So fine, Life. I’ll keep your lemons and I’ll squeeze every last drop of wisdom from them. I’ll mix in resilience, stir in patience, and pour out something stronger than what I started with. And hopefully, less sour.
Because I’ve learned that lemonade isn’t about pretending the bitterness isn’t there. It’s about choosing to create something good from the batches I’ve been given.
Sincerely,
Me
